TAKE CARE OF YOUR KNITS
Natural fibers
KAOS YARN is made from 100% natural fibres, that insulates well, leads moist away from your body, but absorbs very little smell. Freshen up your knits by hanging them outside in shadow, preferably in damp weather or in your bathroom during a shower. This very gentle treatment will make your knits last even longer.
WASH
For your new knits to get their finished look, they do, however, need a little wash. Afterwards you only need to wash them if they are dirty. Hand wash by leaving your knits in a tub of cold/luke warm water with a bit of wool soap for a short while and then rinse it by leaving it shortly in a new bowl of clean cold/luke warm water. Don’t twist the knit, but roll it in a towel and gently squeeze it free of water and leave to dry flat on a towel.
TIP: If you are washing multi colored knits with great color contrast, add a little vinegar to the water to avoid any color bleeding.
Roll your washed knit in a towel and gently squeeze it free of water and leave to dry flat on a towel. It’s important not to wring out the the water, since it can felt and skew the knit.
For shawls, scarfs or blankets you can define the shape by pinning the knit with needles on a foam pad while it dries – this also gives a nice drape to the garments.
PILLING
Knit will pill when used – soft yarns in particular. You can remove the pilling with a wool comb or a wool shaver. Wool shaver is not recommended for Organic Brushed Alpaca, since you might shave off the long brushed fibres.
